Give the gift of life! OSLC will host a Red Cross Blood Drive in our fellowship hall Friday, September 24, from 1:00 to 6:00 pm. While there is currently a severe blood shortage, every two seconds someone in the U.S. needs blood. Did you know that a single whole blood donation can help more than one person? Please sign up for your time to donate at RedCrossBlood.org or call 1-800-REDCROSS. If you cannot donate, you can help make this blood drive a success by volunteering to be a greeter or canteen worker. Volunteers are needed from 12:30 to 7:00 pm; please contact Nancy B., if you can help. Please note that, due to rising COVID-19 positivity rates (Delta variant), Red Cross requires all blood drive staff members, volunteers, and donors to wear face masks, regardless of vaccination status.
Update 14 September 2021:
Dear Fellow Brothers and Sisters in Christ at OSLC,
Every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood--accident and burn victims, heart surgery and organ transplant patients, and those battling cancer. Giving blood means giving hope and courage to patients anxiously awaiting the chance to live healthy, full lives. The American Red Cross supplies 40% of our nation's blood supply (including what is needed at the Winchester Medical Center), and current inventories are critically low. Won't you help? YOU are needed to give blood!
OSLC is hosting a Red Cross blood drive in our fellowship hall Friday, September 24, from 1:00 to 6:00 pm. So far, only 22 people have signed up for the 45 available donor time slots. If you are able and willing to donate, please go to RedCrossBlood.org or call 1-800-REDCROSS (1-800-733-2767) today to sign up for the available time slot that best suits your schedule. (This website and phone number also provide eligibility criteria for donating blood.) If you have received a COVID-19 vaccine, knowing the name of the manufacturer is critical in determining your blood donation eligibility. In most cases, there's no deferral time if you receive a vaccine.
Thank you to all who have signed up to donate blood and/or to work at this blood drive! Please remember that, due to rising COVID-19 positivity rates, Red Cross requires all blood drive staff members, volunteers, and donors to wear face masks, regardless of vaccination status.
